I am talking about the old friend "Mail Merge" tool.

Well, If you are Merging or need to do some Mail Merge and don't have the right tool, we have good news.

We have published xsMerge Web App in the Chrome Web Store that you can install from App.theXS.ca/xsMerge or watch in action in this short video.

Or even better, visit xsMerge Web Page @ www.theXS.ca/xsMerge for more details

What is Mail Merge or Merging anyway?

  • Let's say you already have a Google spreadsheet with a List of some of your Contacts, ex. contact information from one of your Contacts Group (Full Name, Company Name, Address and Email Address).
  • If you want to Print and Send a letter to each of them, you just write a Google text document and add "placeholders" where you want to print their contact information, ex. Attn. #{Full Name} or #{Company Name}, then when you do the Merging those placeholders will be replaced with the right information for each of your contact in the list, in a Pdf file ready to print all your personalized letters.
  • Or if you want to send an Email (like an announcement or newsletter) to each of the contacts in that previous list, you just create a Gmail draft message or a Google Sites web page, adding the "placeholders" where needed, then when you do the Merging a personalized Email will be sent to each of them on your behalf
